Adrian Gamble to Virginia: FUMA WR finally with Cavaliers | National Signing Day 2012

Adrian Gamble | Wide Receiver | Fort Union Military Academy
Agamble_medium

6'2" / 185 lbs / 4.4

Gamble committed Virginia two years ago, but spent this past season at FUMA polishing off his skills. His stats are largely the same as last season, so we're basically just running the same info.

Rankings:
- ESPN: 3* / 77 Rating / #86 WR
- Rivals: 3* / 5.5 Rating
- Scout: 3* / #156 WR
- _247: 3* / 85 Rating

Other Offers: None

Notes: Gamble was recruited his junior year by Virginia, earning a verbal offer while at camp in Charlottesville from Al Groh and company. He committed to Virginia shortly thereafter, and well before you're even allowed to have an offer. He can get down the field pretty quickly, he has an impressive vertical, and has soft hands. Based on everything I've read, this guy looks like a young Billy McMullen in the making. ESPN wants to see improvement on his consistency and polish, as they say that he can try to make a flashy play and lose focus at actually catching the ball. Gamble wanted to enroll at Virginia early, but it doesn't look like that happened.

Quotables:

"I was really raw last year. During the season and this offseason, I have been working on route-running and gaining separation through running precise routes in addition to using my speed."

Video highlights follow the jump.

Gamble has a ton of potential with his combination of length and speed, plus the extra year of seasoning at Fork Union. The guys we’ve gotten from FUMA in the past have worked out pretty well, so I’m expecting big things from Gamble. He immediately upgrades the WR position, and could well have an impact there this coming season. He (and Tim Smith) can use their deep speed to open up some of the underneath stuff for the Terrell/Jennings combination.
