The Hoos drew the Terrapins in their first matchup, but fell in the ACC Championships, 1-0, on November 17. This is the fourth time the two squads have met in the NCAA tournament -- Maryland won the first, 5-0, in 1969 (Please file under "Facts relevant today in predicting outcome"), but the Hoos won the last two, 2-1 in 1994 and, more recently, 3-0 in 2009. Virginia last won a national championship in 2009, when the Hoos were seeded second overall.
