Recruiting Snapshot

UVA has some marquee commits for this recruiting cycle. Keeping Andrew Brown and Quin Blanding in state and more importantly out of Blacksburg will pay huge dividends on the field and off. Much like with Tre' Nicholson and Eli Harold, getting the big time players from the 757 to Charlottesville leads to a windfall of sorts and more follow.

Andrew Brown: Brown is a great athlete for his size and plays a position of need for UVA. He is a guy who because of his physical maturity is ready to contribute day 1. He looks more like a sophomore in college than he does a senior in high school. When you watch this guy play, his footwork and violent hands will get you excited.

Quin Blanding: Blanding had UVA written all over him from the start and I know we all breathed a huge sigh of relief when he made it official with his commit. This kid can do so many things on the football field it is almost unfair. He comes from a solid program at Bayside that has produced Tre', Coop & Smoke. He has great size for the position, plays physical and is able to cover like a corner. He is a day 1 contributor and possible starter, as he like Brown comes to Charlottesville with a college ready body. Very simply put, Quin is special.

Steven Moss: Moss is a kid I have seen in person a ton, as I reside in the Fredericksburg area. He comes from the blue collar program Chancellor, who is known around these parts as always producing tough and strong offensive lines. He is a very raw prospect at this point, who will need some coaching up. He is a mauler and will translate well to the collegiate level. 6'5" 280lbs cannot be coached and Steven has the size and attitude to be an effective collegiate offensive lineman. As with most lineman from Chancellor, Moss' weight room ability shouldn't be an issue. We should all be very excited about what Steven will bring to the table for UVA.

Derrick Nnadi: Derrick Nnadi is a high rated prospect from Ocean Lakes in Virginia Beach. Full disclosure here Nnadi is my favorite of all the prospects in the state this upcoming year. I think he is ready to contribute to any program day 1. He is a solid pass rusher, and is extremely stout against the run. He plays with a strong base and great strength and it shows in his production. Seems he has recently cooled on us and in reality his recruitment as a whole. Keep an eye on where he schedules his visits, he could be a big get for us as his playing style compliments Brown's perfectly. In my opinion Brown has through the roof potential but Nnadi shouldn't be overlooked, he has the ability to contribute just as much.

Jamil Kamara: Jamil opened the season with a bang against Isle of Wight by scoring three touchdowns. He will be in Charlottesville for the Orgeon game and we need to have a decent showing to continue to be his favorite. He recently named a top five of UVA, Pitt, Vandy, Wisconsin & ODU. In a talk with he said we are the favorite because a lot of guys are heading here to try and create a dynasty. He will be a big get for us if we can secure his commitment soon and allow him to start recruiting for us. I am a little concerned that this is still dragging out and not finished up yet. I still fully expect him to be a UVA commitment when all is said and done.

Marquee Matchup:

I want to use this portion to tell everyone where they can see some of our commits/targets face off against other top talent and potentially each other. Andrew Brown and Oscar Smith play Friday on ESPN against OSU commit Jay Holmes and Lake Taylor. Brown will be targeted a ton by Lake Taylor and should see plenty of double teams. Jay Holmes is a terror off the edge, and an equally effective player on the offensive side of the ball. Pay close attention to RB Deshawn McClease & DE Josh Sweat for OS, both are 15' targets.

Questions or comments leave them here or hit me up on twitter @SullySparks. I would like to start posting weekly updates on our recruiting and as I get my hands on film, do in depth breakdowns of our commits. If there is anyone in particular you would like me to look at, I just told you how to let me know!
