On the heels of landing 2016 Charlotte County Courthouse wide receiver Jonathon Reed on Saturday, head coach Mike London capped off the weekend with a bang, securing a verbal commitment from Punta Gorda, Florida (Charlotte) offensive tackle Grant Polk.
Polk is the sixth 2015 prospect to select UVa, and the third in the last 11 days.
A rumored a Mississippi State lean, Polk saw all that he needed on his visit to Charlottesville, pledging to the Cavaliers on Sunday evening.
London and UVa extended an offer to the 6-6, 285 pound tackle back in May, and Polk remained in close contact with the staff, mainly tight ends coach, Tom O'Brien.
In addition to Virginia, Polk claimed offers from the Bulldogs, East Carolina, FIU, FAU, South Florida, Middle Tennessee, South Alabama, and East Carolina.
After signing just two offensive linemen in the last cycle, the staff has made recruiting the big uglies a priority in 2015. Polk's commitment is significant in that he is the second offensive lineman for this class to join the fold already, along with Pennsylvania tackle, Ryan Bischoff.
The Cavaliers did not make top lineman, Austin Clark's top four, announced earlier this week, but the Hoos have cast a wide net for the front five in 2015. UVa was the first to offer state champion, Centreville offensive tackle, Justin Skule, who has since added offers from West Virginia and Rutgers, with several more likely on the way.
Virginia is also involved with Virginia Beach native, Blake Camper, who holds offers from WVU, Maryland, NC State, and Marshall, with BIG 10 offensive lineman factory, Wisconsin showing heavy interest.
