Needing a W to ensure a Top 4 seed in next week’s ACC Tournament, the Cavaliers got what they were looking for via a 9th inning run to win 10-9.
The offense was able to pick up where they left off Saturday night by supplying more than enough runs for the pitching staff. The top half of the lineup, which has been dynamite nearly all season, combined to finish 9-16 on the day and scored 8 of the 10 UVa runs and 7 RBI.
As mentioned above, the win assured UVa a Top 4 seed next week in Louisville. There was a possibility for the Hoos to jump to the No. 3 seed, but those dreams were dashed after Wake beat Pitt this afternoon to win the series.
Joining UVa in the “D” pod is No. 5 seed Clemson, who took 2 of 3 from the Cavaliers early on this season. Also joining the Tigers and Cavaliers will be No. 9 Duke. UVa took 2 of 3 from the Blue Devils the weekend after losing the series to the Tigers.

Pool play will kick off in Louisville on Tuesday and continue through Friday. Game times and matchups will likely be announced on Sunday after all the seeds have been locked up.
We’ll make sure to preview Duke and Clemson later this week as well as more coverage of the ACC Tournament.
