Two Virginia Cavaliers baseball players who expect to hear their names called early in the upcoming MLB Amateur Draft also found their names atop the Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC teams, announced Monday.
First baseman Pavin Smith—who has been mentioned as an outside possibility as the first overall pick in June’s MLB draft—and outfielder Adam Haseley were both named to the first team. Outfielder Cameron Simmons made the second team, while catcher Robbie Coman, shortstop Ernie Clement, and pitcher Tommy Doyle all made the third team.
Pitcher Noah Murdock made the freshman all-conference squad.
In addition to the all-conference announcement, the league also named second-year Jake McCarthy the conference player of the week.
