UVa's Michael Shabaz falls in NCAA Men's Tennis Semis

After a furious comeback and a heartbreaking loss in the Men's Tennis team finals, five Hoos competed in the NCAA Singles Championships: Michael Shabaz, Alex Domijan, Saman Singh, Jarmere Jenkins and Drew Courtney. Fourth-year Shabaz advanced the furthest of any Cavalier, defeating Henrique Cunha of Duke 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 on Saturday to reach the semifinals for the first time in his career.

Virginia loses heartbreaker in NCAA Men's Tennis Championship

Virginia almost pulled off a comeback for the ages this afternoon in the championship match of the NCAA Men's Tennis tournament, but fell just short of the first national championship in school history, losing to Southern Cal, 4-3. It was Virginia's first loss of the season, and one of the most heartbreaking losses in recent memory.

It took less than two hours for the Hoos to earn their 30th victory of the season (against no losses), the fifth consecutive season Virginia has reached that mark.

The University of Virginia received an abundance of good news when the NCAA announced the brackets for the men's and women's NCAA Tennis Tournaments. For the second consecutive year, both the Virginia men's and women's tennis teams will host NCAA Tournament first and second round play.

Five Cavaliers Named to All-ACC Men's Tennis Team

Five members of the Virginia men's tennis team were named to the All-ACC Men's Tennis Team, conference officials announced Thursday. Alex Domijan was named ACC Freshman of the Year and Brian Boland was named ACC Coach of the Year.
