UNC doing UNC things

UNC players are giving each other concussions, in the name of "hazing." How fun!

No One Saw This Coming

The athletic department "expects" a crowd "in the 40,000s" for the season-opener. Season opener, with two national top-ten freshmen, against a consensus top-ten team, and the optimistic expectation is for a stadium that's 1/3 empty.

Could Morgan Brian be Drafted by Houston Dash?

+

The season's barely started, but you can bet the scouts are out there watching already. Alicia Tolar, blogger over at SB Nation's Dynamo Theory but covering the Houston Dash, made a visit to Klockner Stadium to watch UVA and Morgan Brian dismantle Marshall in the Hoos' women's soccer season opener. She likes what she sees, and with the Dash having the overall top pick in the NWSL Draft, she tells Dash fans to keep an eye out on Brian.

Chris Long makes us proud to be Wahoos

Whether it's because he's standing up for a teammate, standing up for a cause, or just standing up to ESPN blowing something out of proportion, we're proud to call him one of ours.

UVA's Going Bowling!

+

ESPN's David Hale is making the bold prediction that Virginia will go bowling this year. It's not the most absurd prediction we've heard -- your own STL staff predicted anywhere from a 4-8 to a 7-5 season for next year.

Statistically speaking, he's got a point. We'll see if Myles Jack & Co. take exception nonetheless.

Ticket Sales Sluggish As Opener Nears

2

UVA fans could have seen this coming...but ticket sales for 2014 are really bad.

Virginia is expecting around 45k for its season opener against UCLA. To put that in perspective, the last time attendence was under 50k for a home opener was in 2005 against Maryland, when 42,800 were in the stands...but the stadium capacity was 40,000.

Ouch.
