In part two of our interview with first-year Virginia volleyball head coach Dennis Hohenshelt, the head man mentioned the importance of having his team play in televised events in order to raise awareness and allow both families of current players and prospective players to see what Virginia is all about.
Tonight is one of those opportunities.
Virginia volleyball takes on the Clemson Tigers tonight at 8:30pm. The match will be televised on RSN. In Charlottesville, that'll be on Comcast SportsNet (37) and Comcast SportsNet HD (251). Check your local listings for availability in your area.
The volleyball team (5-10, 0-5 ACC) is still looking for its first conference win and is in the midst of a four-game road swing. Clemson is only 1-4 in the conference, so they may present an opportunity for the Cavaliers to get a notch in the win column.
But the volleyball team isn't the only one in the spotlight tonight. George Gelnovatch is taking the men's soccer team up to Maryland to face the #1 team in the country. Virginia (5-4-1, 1-2-0 ACC) has had an up and down year so far, but they look to get back on the winning track tonight and do it with the whole country watching (er, well, able to watch, at least).
The soccer match starts at 7pm and will be televised on Fox Sports. In Charlottesville, that's 725 for standard definition and 842 for high def. Again, check your local listings for availability in your area.
For the record, I'm not sure if either of these will actually be broadcast in HD, but they are on the HD channels at least. Also, I think Fox Soccer channel may be part of a sports package or something.
