UVA Baseball Ring Ceremony

Virginia Baseball TeamRain or Shine, it's going down tomorrow. While Game 5 of the Orange and Blue Series has been postponed to tomorrow at 6pm, Virginia Athletics has announced that rain or shine, the ring ceremony will be taking place.

From, "Rain or shine, Virginia will hold a celebration of the 2009 UVa baseball team at 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at Davenport Field prior to the start of Game 5 of the Orange and Blue World Series. Virginia will conduct its College World Series and ACC Championship ring ceremony at that time."

It should be a good time all around. Little leaguers are invited on the field to run the bases beginning at 5:30, at which time they can also play catch, meet the players, etc. Three little leaguers will also be selected to throw out the first pitch (maybe it takes 3 of them to get it to the plate?), and one will get to introduce the lineup for the first inning. Meanwhile, other fans are invited on the field after the game for a meet and greet with the championship team.

There will be a video presentation featuring highlights of the 2009 team's historic season as part of the celebration. Admission for the evening is free of charge. Free hot dogs and Pepsi will be available for the first 2,000 fans in attendance.

Authentic Virginia old-timers hats will be available to the first 100 fans entering the ballpark for Game 6. The also will be raffle prizes available during the game, including team-signed baseballs, jerseys and 2009 baseball cards.
