Midweek Stat Tracker: 10.28.09

Stat TrackerHere is this week's midweek Stat Tracker. This regular column gives you an update as to how Virginia's numbers stack up against the rest of the country. I love stats. I love numbers. It's in my blood. (It's part of being Chinese, really. I used to have to recite the multiplication table before I could eat dinner. Those of you who know me in person can tell that I must have mastered that multiplication table pretty quickly... But I digress.)

This week there are two categories that are of particular note. The first is Passing Defense. UVA is currently No. 5 in the country for pass defense. That's pretty darn impressive (and perhaps a real testament to just how poor our rushing defense really is).

But the other category of note is Passing Offense. Let your eyes wander all the way over to the right of that column. Whoa! Duke! That's right. Duke has the best pass offense in the country, and during last week's game against Maryland, the announcers point blank said, "Duke's passing game is one to be feared in this conference." Wow. What kind of messed up world do we live in? Remember the Duke days of yore? I mean, obviously, back before they beat us, last year, ending a 25-game conference losing streak. Boy did that have fans chanting against Groh.

This weekend's matchup should be interesting. And that's something I never thought I'd say against the Blue Devils. Keep your eyes peeled, folks.
