Virginia Men's Soccer Seeded Fifth

UVA Soccer Ball8th ranked Virginia men's soccer earned a 5 seed and will be facing the 4th seeded Maryland tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C., in the quarterfinals of the 2009 ACC Tournament.

UVA (12-3-2, 4-3-1 ACC) is riding an eight game winning streak into the tournament and looks to improve on that before heading into the NCAA tournament. Wake Forest got the No. 1 nod, followed by North Carolina and Boston College. Duke, NC State, Virginia Tech and Clemson round out the bottom four. Should Virginia advance, they're looking to face the winner of Wake vs. Virginia Tech/Clemson on Friday at 5:30.

In the only meeting between the two teams during the regular season, Virginia and Maryland found themselves scoreless at the end of two overtimes to a 0-0 tie in College Park. Wednesday's matchup promises to be another low scoring, well-matched up game.

For the year, he has allowed just seven goals in 17 games for a goals-against average of 0.40, which leads the ACC. His nine shutouts on the year also leads the league.
