Let me start this inaugural post with this: I love alliteration. I think it’s highly underrated and would speak exclusively alliteratively if (a) I were witty enough to do so and (b) I had some level of reassurance that I would not get beat up within the first ten minutes of such an endeavor. But I digress.
Streaking the Lawn strives to supply you with sustained (okay, seriously. I’m done with the alliteration now.) coverage of Wahoo sports.
In no way is this site supposed to replace VirginiaSports.com or even TheSabre.com, both of which will provide you with some of the best coverage out there in terms of recruits, game break-downs, etc. This site is intended to supplement all of that great information by giving you some additional tips, some witty retorts, and sufficient anti-Hokie propaganda. And just because I mention the Hokies, don’t think you Terps and Dookies are off the hook either. There is plenty of hatorade to go around.
This isn’t just an anti-opposition site. It’ll also just fill you in on some of the day-to-day activities of Wahoo Nation, hoping not only to provide you with football and basketball coverage, but also with equal coverage of your non-revenue sports, such as tennis, baseball, field hockey, rowing, etc., and even your club hockey, rugby, etc. Because we know that to finish in the Top 10 of the Director’s Cup standings, it takes more than a great football and basketball program, and unlike our neighbors two hours to the west, we have the all-around tradition of excellence of which they can only dream.
By way of introduction, I am a 2005 alumnus of the College of Arts and Sciences, and a 2008 alumnus of the School of Law. I cry orange and bleed blue. My colleagues at work genuinely wonder whether I am single-handedly funding the UVA Bookstore (how many people do you know with a UVA garden gnome in their office?). I have been known to go two straight weeks wearing only orange t-shirts and without repeating, leading up to then [YEAR] UVA-Virginia Tech football game. By the way, we won that game, and I can only assume it is on no small part due to my efforts.
Anyway, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. I hope to be unveiling new features quickly in the coming weeks. I love comments like nobody’s business, so if you’ve got something to say, make it heard.
If you’re interested, mosey on over to that "The UVA Fool" tab up there and read about some of my personal updates. This site was started years ago just as a personal journal, but over the years, I’ve found that what I really like to do is write about UVA Sports. But occasionally, I think it is necessary to update you on what dumpling restaurant I ate at over the past weekend.
