The Virginia men's basketball team finishes out their four-game homestand, and final out of conference matchup, tonight against Texas-Pan American. The Cavaliers enter this game having won their last three, including a 72-63 victory over then No. 24 UAB. It was the Hoos' first win this season by fewer than 10 points.
Tonight's likely starters are the same: Calvin Baker (who had eight points and six assists against UAB), Assane Sene, Sammy Zeglinski (who, at 47.4%, is third in the ACC from the 3-point range this season), Sylven Landesberg, and Will Sherrill.
When asked, head coach Tony Bennett said that Mike Scott is getting better and will likely be playing again tonight, but would probably not yet be starting. Scott had a team-high seven rebounds last week against UAB, after missing the previous three.
This is the first time Virginia has faced UTPA. The Cavaliers have won their last 22 games against a first-time opponent, dating back to a loss to Gonzaga in the 2001 NCAA Tournament.
Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. and the game will not be televised. I will be following the game and will be live-tweeting to the extent I can over @TheUVAFool.
