McLean, Perdue Sweep ACC Performer of the Week Honors

Virginia swept this week's ACC Swimming & Diving honors, after stellar performances against Virginia Tech and Princeton over the weekend. Senior Matt McLean captured three individual titles and is the ACC Swimming & Diving Men's Performer of the Week, while teammate sophomore Lauren Perdue, also won three events and is the Women's Performer of the Week.

A native of Sterling, Va., McLean helped the No. 11 Virginia men's squad earn victories against league foe Virginia Tech and Princeton over the weekend. He posted times of 1:37.42 in the 200 free, 4:24.12 in the 500 free, and 15:12.86 in the 1650 free. All three times were NCAA 'B' cuts, while his times in the 500 free and 1650 free currently lead the conference. The men's squad accumulated 939.5 points to top No. 23 Virginia Tech (718) and No. 25 Princeton (478.5).

Perdue registered three first place finishes and also led off on three victorious relays as the ninth-ranked Cavalier women's team also defeated the Hokies and the Tigers. She registered a time of 22.91 in the 50 free, a conference-leading 49.67 in the 100 free, and 1:48.13 in the 200 free. All three times were NCAA 'B' qualifying. The Greenville, N.C., native swam the opening leg on the 200 free, 400 free, and 800 free relays, with all three also posting 'B' times. The Virginia women tallied 968 points to collect wins over Virginia Tech (619.5) and Princeton (567.5). Perdue was also honored by the conference the week of October 26.

Action resumes for the Cavaliers this weekend in Charlottesville, as the 'Hoos host Indiana and Penn State for a two-day meet.
