Boston College Gives Cavaliers Early Exit from ACC Tournament

The third-seeded Virginia women's soccer team was bounced in the first round of the ACC Championships, falling to Boston College in the tournament for the second consecutive year, 1-0. The Cavaliers, ranked fifth in the nation, fall to 13-4-2 and await their NCAA Tournament fate, as the field of 64 will be announced on Monday.

"We expected it to be a close game and it was," said Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. "This had the feel of a quarterfinal or semifinal NCAA Tournament game. We are disappointed with the result. Our effort was good, but the difference was they finished their one chance and we didn't capitalize on ours."

It was a scoreless first half in a game that pitted to evenly matched teams. In their only shot on goal of the game, the Eagles capitalized in the 66th minute with a game-winning goal.

Both teams had 11 shots, while BC out-cornered the 'Hoos 4-2.

The NCAA Tournament draw will be announced on Monday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
