Virginia Wrestling Posts Thee Dominating Wins

Virginia Wrestling is ranked 22nd in the nation, and they showcased some of their musclepower this weekend with easy victories over Anderson (41-6), Rider (38-0) and Gardner-Webb (50-0). The Cavaliers won 29 of its 30 bouts, with the sole loss coming in a forfeit.

The marquee victory came from included freshman Joe Spisak's 14-2 major decision at 133 over Rider's Jimmy Kirchner, a 2010 NCAA qualifier who was ranked No. 18 nationally in the preseason Amateur Wrestling News rankings.

In the shutout of Gardner-Webb Saturday night, Virginia gave up just one takedown in the match. The 50-point margin of victory is tied for the fifth-largest winning margin in Virginia program history, and is the fifth-most points Virginia has ever scored in a dual.

Virginia will participate in the Hershey Duals this Saturday, Nov. 13, against The Citadel, Kent State and Edinboro.
