Sinead Farrelly named a Women's MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist

Senior midfielder Sinead Farrelly has been named one of the 15 semifinalists for the women's 2010 Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy, the most prestigious individual award in intercollegiate soccer. She is one of only two 2009 semifinalists to appear on this year's list, along with Christen Press of Stanford.

This year, Farrelly had 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points on the season while starting all 22 games. In conference play, she had four goals and led the conference with six assists. She tallied five game-winning goals, and 26 of her 51 shots were on frame (.510).

Earlier this season, she was named the 2010 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, the first Cavalier to garner such distinction since the award was created in 2004. She is also a four-time first-team All-ACC selection.

Head coaches of Division I programs with current membership in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) will vote to determine the 2010 MAC Hermann Trophy recipient. Three finalists for the award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 10. They will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis for a news conference on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, where the winner will be announced. A dinner and formal presentation of the award will follow the news conference that evening.
