After an impressive showing against Oregon, Virginia's KT Harrell was selected the ACC Rookie of the Week for the week of December 20, 2010.
Harrell had a career-high 20 and had four rebounds, marking the fifth time in his young career that he's reached double-figure scoring. The Montgomery, Ala., freshman was 8-of-12 from the field, and 4-6 from the free throw line. He also had one assist and one turnover in 35 minutes of action.
"He is just getting better," head coach Tony Bennett said following Friday night's game. "He has certainly gotten more playing time, but he has a mean mid-range game. He did a heck of a job taking the ball to a spot and elevating to put it in. He has very good touch and you saw that on display. I'm very proud of the guys for battling and improving as the game went on."
At the end of the Oregon game, he had all of John Paul Jones Arena chanting his name.
"It was a good experience, I was trying to hold in my smile."
Virginia takes on Norfolk State tonight at 7:00 p.m.
