Virginia outfielder Dan Grovatt has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week following his performance in winning last weekend's series against No. 5 Florida State that opened conference play.
Grovatt was Virginia's top hitter during a 3-1 week which included a series win at No. 2 Florida State – UVa's first-ever series win against the Seminoles.
Grovatt, a junior from Tabernacle, N.J., began his big week on Wednesday with a key single during UVa's four-run rally in a win over William and Mary, which had knocked off 11th-ranked North Carolina in Chapel Hill the previous day.
On Friday, Grovatt recorded his first career multiple-home run game and UVa's first multi-homer game since 2008 with a pair of home runs in the Cavaliers' 5-0 win at FSU. Grovatt also tied his career high in hits with a four-hit effort Friday. On Saturday, he earned the win on the mound and had a key single and run during the Cavaliers' six-run rally in the ninth inning that produced a 9-8 win. On Sunday, Grovatt clubbed his third homer of the weekend in the first inning.
