If Carolina can get into a post-season tournament, anyone should be allowed to this season. But the powers that be apparently do not listen to what StreakingtheLawn believes, for reasons unbeknownst to us. However, following the idea of esteemed Boston College blog, BC Interruption, we thought it would be fun to conduct our own Whatif Wahoo Madness, pitting together Virginia Cavaliers teams from 1999-2010.
Thanks to Whatifsports.com, we can pit together each team for the past 10 years. Or at least that was the original intent. There's some missing data, so we don't have the '01-'02, '03-'04, or '04-05. So we'll take our 8 most recent available teams. Based purely on final record, here's how they seed:
8. 2008-09 Cavaliers (10-17): PG Sammy Zeglinski, SG Calvin Baker, SF Sylven Landesberg, PF Mike Scott, C Assane Sene
7. 2009-10 Cavaliers (14-15): PG Jontel Evans, SG Sammy Zeglinski, SF Sylven Landesberg, PF Mike Scott, C Jerome Meyinsse
6. 2002-03 Cavaliers (14-14): PG Todd Billet, SG Derrick Byars, SF Devin Smith, PF Elton Brown, C Travis Watson
5. 2007-08 Cavaliers (15-14): PG Sean Singletary, SG Jeff Jones, SF Mamadi Diane, PF Adrian Joseph, C Mike Scott
4. 2005-06 Cavaliers (15-14): PG Sean Singletary, SG J.R. Reynolds, SF Adrian Joseph, PF Jason Cain, C Tunji Soroye
3. 1999-00 Cavaliers (19-12): PG Donald Hand, SG Roger Mason Jr., SF Adam Hall, PF Chris Williams, C Travis Watson
2. 2006-07 Cavaliers (20-9): PG Sean Singletary, SG J.R. Reynolds, SF Mamadi Diane, PF Laurynas Mikalauskas, C Jason Cain
1. 2000-01 Cavaliers (20-9): PG Donald Hand, SG Roger Mason Jr., SF Adam Hall, PF Chris Williams, C Travis Watson
So, with the seeds set, here is what the bracket looks like:
The quarterfinals round starts this Friday, so tune in to see which teams advance to the Final Four of this year's Wahoo Madness!
