Virginia advances to Round of 16 to face Duke

The Virginia men's tennis team continue to show why they are the top ranked team in the nation and current favorites to win the NCAA Championships this weekend, blanking both first and second round opponents.  Dispatching Navy in the first round and Wake Forest in the second, the Cavaliers are moving on to the round of 16, where they'll face Duke, who advances to the round of 16 for the first time since 2006.

Virginia extended its streaks to 62 straight ACC wins and 74 straight home wins.  They'll be looking to continue the former next weekend, as the Hoos will be taking on the No. 16 Blue Devils, who just dispatched VCU in the first round and No. 19 North Carolina in the second.

This will not be an easy matchup for the Cavaliers, who snuck away with a 4-3 victory in the regular season and a 4-2 win in the ACC Championships.  Duke boasts the top doubles team in the country, as well as the No. 2-ranked Henrique Cunha, who is the only player to have ever won both the ACC Player of the Year and the ACC Freshman of the Year.

The match will take place in Athens, Georgia at a time to be announced. I know what my prediction is, but I'm not going to say anything on account of my uncanny ability to jinx this team.
