Yeardley Love Memorial and Scholarship Funds

Those of you who attended last night's vigil, watched it online or on the television, or have read accounts of it today know Yeardley Love's tremendous ability to touch the lives of those around her, either in her presence or, as now, in her absence.  As we continue to mourn the loss of Yeardley Love, we wanted to pass along this information that was sent to the Class of 2013 earlier this afternoon relating to where the family has asked for contributions to be sent.

The following information comes from an email sent from Charlie Miller, President of the Class of 2013.  Thanks to Twitter followers @Cavsfan8 and @rtjr for sending it our way.  Information was also used from InsideLacrosse.

With respect to the endowed scholarship, the Virginia Lacrosse Alumni Network hopes to raise $500,000.  Drew Fox, who is spearheading the efforts, says, "This scholarship is the purest way I think we can recognize her and life and legacy and excellence as a person and student-athlete and member of the Virginia Lacrosse family." [UPDATED 5/7/10 10:25 a.m.] You may fill out this Yeardley Reynolds Love Endowed Scholarship Pledge Form and email it to Mr. Lo Davis at led2h@virginia.edu.  Please note that, as this is a separate fund, contributions will not count towards VAF giving levels.

The email also notes that Friday is Orange and Blue Show of Unity and Support Day, during which students are being encouraged to wear orange and blue throughout the day in a show of unity and support and as a means of honoring Yeardley Love.

There will also be a Roman Catholic Mass in Memory of Yeardley Love on Friday, May 7, at noon in the UVa Chapel.  This is intended as neither a funeral nor the University's memorial service, but rather as an opportunity for Catholics within the University to pray.  The pbulic is invited and more information can be found here.

Finally, the Deta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, of which Yeardley was a sister, is establishing a need-based scholarship fund to benefit members, either as current students or as alumnae. To make a donation, please contact Katelyn Dewey, Vice President of Finance, at katelyndewey@gmail.com. Checks should be made out to "Delta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta" with "In Memory of Yeardley Love" noted in the memo line.
