Yea, I had to be a little cliché with the title. This game tonight is the difference between a season being considered a success and a monumental failure. Ask Texas or Coastal Carolina fans if their team had a successful year this year. Resounding answer: Hell na!
Yesterday was just a bad day. I don't really want to go into it too much as I am sure most saw it. Morey and the pitching staff just had a bad game. Nobody could locate until Neal came in the 7th and by then it was too late. When a pitcher did locate a pitch it got hit really(I mean really) hard. Just one of those days you have and you forget about soon after. The good thing about yesterday's game: the bats were alive like Julie Andrews' hills. OU pitched their supposed ace yesterday and he only lasted 4 innings. Time to move on....time to forget.
Today, first-year Branden Kline will be on the mound with the Cavalier's season hopes on the line. He is obviously not scared of a big game since he pitched phenomenally last week against St. Johns in the regional final game and two weeks ago he pitched brilliantly in relief against Miami in the ACC tournament. There aren't many other freshmen out there that I would rather have on the mound right now than Branden.
As for the rest of the team, I will expect them to play just like it is any other game. For the past two years this team has proven that there is never a time to panic and that no matter the situation they will play to get the job done and lay it all on the line. That is the mantra of UVa Baseball that we have all come to know and love. They will play until the 27th out is recorded to hear the crowd shout and roar. Not once has this team lost back to back games and I don't anticipate it happening today.
