A little over two weeks ago the Hoos had a school record 9 players selected in the 2010 MLB draft. Coming into today, 4 players had already signed professional contracts with the respective teams that selected them earlier this month. Fourth year Neal Davis has signed with the Phillies and is playing in Florida with the Gulf Coast League Phillies; fellow fourth year Tyler Cannon has signed with the Indians; the first 3rd year to sign was Phil Gosselin who signed with the Braves earlier this week and is currently with the Low-A Rome Braves; and Kevin Arico has also signed with the Reds and will report soon.
Well, after this weekend, the Cavs will lose another former 3rd year pitcher. It appears Robert Morey will be signing with the Florida Marlins this weekend. The 5th round draft pick will sign and report to the Low-A Greensboro Grasshoppers to begin his professional baseball career. Unfortunately for Morey and Gosselin, they will be in the same league as each other and will more than likely square off at sometime later this season. I for one am looking forward to that. Best of luck to my good friend Robert, I know he will be a very successful professional baseball player. Stay tuned to see Hoo will sign next. My pick: Dan Grovatt.
