It's been a while since we've done one of these, huh? Georgia Tech is shockingly only a seven point favorite heading into Saturday's Homecomings matching here in Charlottesville. Yes, this is the same Georgia Tech who's got the No. 4 offense in the country, amassing an average of 553.50 yards a game. A game! By comparison, Virginia averages 438.80 yards a game. By no means shabby, but that's more than an entire football field less than the Jackets.
Actually, on the whole, Virginia's stats aren't to shabby this year. The Cavaliers are ranked 38th in passing yards (261.6), 42nd in rushing yards (177.2) and 42nd in scoring defense (allowing 22.4 points a game). One cause for concern is that the Hoos are only 70th in scoring (27.2 a game), meaning that they're doing just fine driving the ball, but they're unable to turn trips into touchdowns rather than field goals.
Georgia Tech has only beaten Virginia in Charlottesville once in the past 20 years -- 2009. We're not going to let them do it to us back-to-back, are we? Go Hoos.
