NBA lockout got you down? Just because the players and owners haven't crunched the numbers perfectly yet doesn't mean you should be deprived of watching your favorite stars on the hardcourt. Former Virginia guard Roger Mason, Jr., will be hosting a charity basketball event in Charlottesville at John Paul Jones Arena. The event, the Atlantic Coast Stars vs. Pro Stars Charity Basketball Classic, is scheduled for Saturday, October 29 at 3:30 p.m.
They're still working on finalizing the player participants, but I, for one, am excited, because not only will Mason be hosting and playing in the event, but so will former Virginia guard JR Reynolds, who most recently played for Orleans, a French squad.
Here are the lineups that we know so far:
PRO STARS LINEUP | ATLANTIC COAST STARS LINEUP |
Kevin Durant | Roger Mason Jr |
Rudy Gay | JR Reynolds |
John Wall | Raymond Felton |
Brendan Haywood |
The event will benefit the Rock and Roll Foundation and the United Way -- Thomas Jefferson Area. The Rock and Roll Foundation is a foundation that creates and molds educational programs for middle and high school students. The United Way serves community members with the greatest need or at the greatest ways in the areas of school readiness, self-sufficiency and community health.
Tickets are on sale now and are between $20 and $85 per ticket.
