It's Rivalry Week, Senior Day, and quite possibly bowl-eligibility day in College Park, so I am even more amped than usual for today's matchup against the Terps. By all accounts, today should be a victory for the Hoos, who have had a week and a couple extra days to prepare, and are coming off the big win down in Miami on the national stage. But as we all know, this team is dead-set on making this a roller coaster ride of a season (see, e.g., N.C. State), so you never know what'll happen.
Though Virginia trains the all-time series, the Cavaliers have really had the Terps' number as of late, winning 14 of the last 19 meetings between the two teams. Here are a few additional fun facts:
- Not fun at all, UVa has not won a game in November in 13 tries, dating back to the 48-0 shellacking of Miami on November 10, 2007.
- WR Tim Smith has caught a touchdown in each of the past three games, from three separate passers -- Michael Rocco, David Watford, and Perry Jones.
- Virginia averages 186.4 rushing yards per game, the second highest in the past 12 seasons. Virginia needs to stick with this plan and avoid relying too heavily on a pass game that can be suspect at times.
- Maryland leads the conference in turnover margins and is eighth in the country, at +1.13 per game. By comparison, Virginia is ninth in the conference and 93rd in the country, at an unacceptable -0.50 per game.
As always, leave your pre-, in-, and post-game thoughts here, and Go Hoos!
