Another Brilliant Weekend for Virginia Tennis

The Virginia tennis programs continued their successful seasons this weekend with dominant victories over Wake Forest. The women got things rolling on Saturday with a 6-1 drubbing of the Deacs in their final regular season home match of the year. Ranked #18 in the country, the Cavaliers improved to 16-6 on the season. They'll finish up the regular season next weekend with road matches against Clemson and Georgia Tech.

The top-ranked Virginia men's tennis team continued their brilliant season with a 5-2 win over #34 Wake, improving to 24-0, with a perfect 9-0 record in the ACC. Once again, the Cavaliers extended their ACC-record win streak to 72 consecutive victories over conference foes.

"I was proud of the effort today," said head coach Brian Boland. "I am really proud of Sanam (Singh). He battled through an injury that caused him to not hit a tennis ball the entire week, but he went out there today because his team needed him and put himself in a position to win, serving at 5-4 in the third. It is unfortunate that he didn't get the win he deserved, but I know that he will be back to full strength next week for us. The effort he gave today makes me proud to have him as a part of our program."

The men will return home next weekend to conclude the regular season against Clemson and Georgia Tech.
