Virginia Tennis Sweeps NC State

It was a glorious day for the Virginia tennis programs, as the men's and women's teams rolled over NC State to continue what has been a remarkable season for each squad. The top-ranked Cavalier men took an easy 6-1 victory, running their season record to 23-0 (8-0 in the ACC). The win extended UVa's ACC-record win streak to 71 consecutive victories over conference foes.

The Virginia women are having a superb season of their own, and they picked up their own win today, beating NCSU by a score of 4-1. The #18 Cavaliers are now 15-6 on the season, 4-4 in the ACC.

"I am very proud of the team," said head coach Mark Guilbeau. "It was good to get the win, but more importantly we played well. We made some adjustments in areas that were beating us. When you are a good team and you take care of those things, most of the time the results will come. This was an important match for us, just as tomorrow is an important match too."

The women finish up their regular season on Saturday against Wake Forest, while the men will play their final road match of the season on Sunday against the Deacs.
