Virginia to Host NCAA Men's and Women's NCAA Tennis Regionals

The University of Virginia received an abundance of good news when the NCAA announced the brackets for the men's and women's NCAA Tennis Tournaments. For the second consecutive year, both the Virginia men's and women's tennis teams will host NCAA Tournament first and second round play.

The Virginia women (18-7) received the #11 seed, which marks the first time the Cavalier women have ever been seeded in the NCAA Tournament. They will host Army in the first round on May 14; should the Cavaliers emerge from the opening weekend, it will be the Virginia women's first trip ever to the Round of 16. (The Round of 16 will be played at Stanford this year.)

The men, as expected, are the #1 seed for the fourth consecutive year. The Cavaliers (29-0) will play Sacred Heart in round one on May 13. This is the eighth consecutive season that the Hoos have hosted a regional; they've reached at least the quarterfinals of the tournament in each of the last six seasons.
