Virginia Cavaliers' Jake McGee Stretches Out Long For Game-Winning Touchdown over Miami Hurricanes

A roller coaster final drive orchestrated by Michael Rocco ended with a show of agility by Virginia Tight End Jake McGee.

A questionable safety call with just 4:19 to play, followed by a kickoff return by Duke Johnson to Miami's 47 made the day nearly unbearable for Wahoo fans. But when the Hurricanes went three and out and Virginia had a chance to get to work with just 2:38 to get 87 yards, a small glimmer of hope shines in the eyes of the Cavalier faithful.

As Michael Rocco nailed a 28-yard pass on the second play of the drive, that glimmer began to grow. A big 9-yard reception by Dominique Terrell to get the first down on fourth-and-seven would move the ball over mid field, and suddenly, the five-point deficit didn't seem so big for Virginia to overcome.

Inching closer and closer to the endzone with both precision and good clock management, Michael Rocco found himself in another fourth-and-seven situation. An incomplete pass seemed to end the game, until the referees threw the holy yellow flag that gave Virginia 10 yards and a first down off a defensive holding call.

What transpired after that was nothing short of a top-10 moment. On second down with 10 yards to go, Michael Rocco threw an arching pass to Jake McGee, who prior to this game had been quiet for most of the season after a couple big-play heroics back in September. McGee had to stretch out about two feet in the air and a foot past the end zone to make the reception, and you can watch the video to witness the magic for yourself.
