National Signing Day Coverage: Virginia Football Class of 2012

Virginia Football National Signing Day 2012

Head Coach Mike London and the rest of the Virginia coaching staff have worked hard over the past twelve months -- even longer, really -- to put together what some consider another top-25 recruiting class. In his first full year at the helm, Coach London put together a consensus top-25 Class of 2011 recruits, all while coming off just a four-win season. This year, the Hoos turned it around and finished with an 8-5 record and a trip to face the then-reigning national champion Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Unfortunately, most of the verbal commitments for the Class of 2012 had already been secured well before the season started, with the bulk of the work occurring over the summer. Unlike National Signing Day 2011, when Virginia landed two last-minute four-star recruits in Dominique Terrell and Darius Jennings (I only this week deleted my "Curtis Grant to UVA" article that I had teed up), there isn't really much left on the table -- nor much room in the scholarship books -- for National Signing Day 2012 to bring in any big surprises.

Virginia has already signed one member of the Class of 2012, Greyson Lambert, who enrolled earlier last month. We'll post his numbers shortly. There are 25 other members of the class that should be faxing in their letters of intent (many believe that the NCAA is single-handedly supporting the entire facsimile enterprise) for a total of a 26-person class.

At the time of this post, Rivals ranks Virginia's recruiting class as No. 26 nationally, while 247Sports has the Hoos at No. 16 in the country. The Cavaliers had been ranked in the top-25 of ESPN's rankings for the bulk of the year, but recently fell off after other schools received additional commitments. Scout.com ranks Virginia 24th.

We're hoping for no big surprises today. We'll keep you posted throughout the day right here on Streaking the Lawn with player scouting reports and highlights videos as signed letters of intent roll in. We'll also keep you up to date on Twitter.

We'll update this as we go along, but here are the LOIs received: (Click through to each player for more)
