There's no doubt that Washington Nationals' third baseman Ryan Zimmerman remembers his Cavalier roots. Almost immediately after signing a five-year, $45 million deal with the Nats, Zimmerman made a sizeable $250,000 donation back to Virginia Baseball, which was designated towards the Davenport Field expansion project that brought in over 1,500 additional seats.

Following an outstanding performance by Zimmerman in the Nats' 3-2 win over the Astros, Zimmerman spent the entirety of his post-game interview reminding the viewing audience on MASN just which college program produced the fine athlete by rocking this past year's Step Up To The Plate tshirt. We actually don't know what he said about the game at all -- we were too busy scrambling for screenshots and generally being giddy.

Zimmerman hit 2-of-4 on the day, including a 2-out double in the first, though he was ultimately stranded (he also had a single and two flyouts). His real Sportscenter-worthy highlights came at the top of the 8th, when Zimmerman ran in to make a diving catch in foul territory on a bunt pop. He followed that up by laying out on a line drive for the second out of the inning.

Wahoowa, Ryan! You keep repping the Hoos, and we'll keep...well, we have nothing to offer in this relationship, really. Other than saying "Wahoowa!" repeatedly. Wahoowa!
