Virginia has landed its second wide receiver for the 2013 class, in Oscar Smith standout Zack Jones. Zack, who is the younger brother of UVA running back Perry Jones, held offers from Virginia and Illinois. Jones is rated a 3-star prospect by 247, and although he is yet to be ranked by Rivals, expect a 3-star rating there as well. Jones becomes the 5th member of the 2013 class, joining fellow wide receiver Andre Levrone, quarterback Brendan Marshall, offensive tackle Sadiq Olanrewaju, and safety Tim Harris.

At 5'11' 178, Jones is a smaller, quicker receiver that could be dangerous in the slot. As you can see here, Jones has the ability to get behind defenders, and then run away from them. As a junior, Jones helped lead Oscar Smith to another state title, scoring several key touchdowns along their playoff run. That state title was won on Jones' future home turf, at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.

Considering the obvious connection to the UVA program, it would have been pretty surprising had Jones committed anywhere else. No, Perry Jones will not be around when Zack joins the program next summer, but there is no doubt that Perry playing at Virginia had a major influence on Zack's recruitment. Although Virginia and Illinois are the only two offers Jones holds at this time, a lot of schools that would have offered probably backed off, knowing that Jones was headed to Charlottesville all along. With the wide receiver depth that Virginia is building, look for Jones to redshirt his first year. After that, he could be a great contributor to Bill Lazor's pro-style attack in the slot. Although the staff probably didn't have to work as hard to get Jones on board as they would have to with other prospects whose brothers didn't play there, this is still a solid addition to the 2013 class. It's always good to add players with speed to the team, and also grab players from powerhouses like Oscar Smith.
