Week 8 .gif Preview: The Duke Blue Devils

Football season is apparently still going on even though there was basketball news yesterday, so I'm still contractually obligated to tell you how the football game might turn out. It went so well last week......

Most of like to blame Coach London for the terrible playcalling (some of it probably is his fault), but I have to imagine a lot of the reaction by the players (certainly from the fans) to the playcalling from Fairchild is similar to Bert's reaction to Ernie's constant yapping.....

As I sat and watched last week as our team ran the clock out for a long game tying FG for our punter, I couldn't help but feel confused/saddened/angered.

This week we turn our (lack of football) attention to the visiting Blue Devils. All of you going to Scott Stadium on Sunday, you stand proud!

Duke gets the ball and drives a bit, but stalls out on the UVa 45 forcing a punt that IS RETURNED INTO DUKE TERRITORY! Watford looks competent again and leads the offense to a TOUCHDOWN! 7-0 HOOS!!!!!

Duke then proceeds to take the ball back and score 17 unanswered points leaving us all sad and hopeless. Hoos enter half down 17-7.

Luckily, we have Alec Vozenilek who brings the Cavaliers within 4 after the first two drives of the second half, because why score touchdowns when you can kick FGs? AMIRITE, GUYS?

Sadly, that's as close as the Cavaliers will get again in this one as Duke begins to score more touchdowns, while UVa only knows how to kick FGs. UVa loses 34-20.

(Reminder to Red Sox fans: this is one of your ace pitchers who you all hated less than a year ago. So, keep thinking you're going to beat the Tigers. Gawd, I hope you lose.)

Oh well, LESS THAN 25 DAYS TIL BASKETBALL SEASON! Let's all drink our sorrows....
