The life of a walk-on isn't always glamorous. A lot of hard work, long days, and effort for not a lot of attention or glory.
Such is the case for Caid Kirven out of Raleigh, NC, who made most of his contributions last year on the practice squad. Now in his second year under Head Coach Tony Bennett, the lanky forward plays a key role on the court in preparing his teammates for game day. His size makes him perfect to counter and challenge the likes of Akil Mitchell, Darion Atkins, Mike Tobey, and Anthony Gill.
Kirven saw action in six games last season, grabbing three rebounds in the process. While only seeing 13 minutes of playing time, Caid definitely has the support of the student section and his teammates. His easy-going nature makes him likeable and a great addition to the Virginia squad.
