Sadiq Olanrewaju
Position: Offensive Tackle
Hometown (School): Salisbury, CT (Salisbury School)
Height/Weight: 6'6'' 280 lbs
Committed to Virginia: 3/20/12
Lead Recruiter: Mike Faragalli
Sadiq Olanrewaju committed to the Cavaliers way back in March, and remained solid throughout the process. Playing his high school football in Connecticut, Sadiq chose Virginia over offers from West Virginia, Rutgers, Temple and UConn. Olanrewaju projects as a tackle on the offensive line at UVa. The Salisbury School star is rated a 3-star prospect across the board.
At 6'6'' 280 lbs, Olanrewaju is an athletic lineman with a ton of potential. On film he shows a lot of speed for the position, and great footwork. In addition to technique, Olanrewaju has one thing you can't teach, length. Sadiq has really long arms and a big wingspan, great attributes for an offensive tackle to have. Going up against speed rushers, tackles need to be athletic and be able to move their feet rapidly to keep the quarterback on his feet. That's why Morgan Moses went out of his way to lose weight and play more lean going into last season. Olanrewaju has all the phyiscal tools one would want at the tackle position.
Olanrewaju is originally from Maryland, so no doubt his familiarity with the Virginia program helped them land him. Sadiq was recruited by Mike Faragalli, who was let go after the season, but Olanrewaju never wavered. Because of his athleticism, Olanrewaju probably has the highest ceiling of any of Virginia's 2013 linemen signees. He will certainly redshirt the 2013 season to work on his technique and his size. The UVa staff has found some solid under-the-radar linemen on the trail in the past few years, and Sadiq Olanrewaju definitely fits that bill.
