Andre Levrone
Position: Wide Receiver
Hometown (School): Olney, MD (Good Counsel)
Height/Weight: 6'2'' 197 lb.
Committed to Virginia: 4/11/12
Lead Recruiter: Anthony Poindexter
Andre Levrone was one of the first prospects to commit to Virginia for the 2013 class, and one of a trio of Good Counsel stars to do so. Levrone joins teammates Brendan Marshall and Kirk Garner in UVa's signing class. Levrone got some big offers from the likes of Auburn and Southern Cal, but elected to stay closer to home. Levrone is a high 3-star on both Rivals and 247Sports, but he had a great summer camp season and almost earned a 4th star on both services. Levrone suffered a leg injury that kept him from playing most of his senior season.
Levrone's recruitment didn't pick up a lot of steam until this past Spring, mostly because there wasn't a ton of film out on him. This was in part because his high school team is so stacked with talent, including 5-stars Stefon Diggs and Kendall Fuller, that Levrone didn't get as much playing time as a junior. UVa jumped on him early after being impressed what limited film that they could get. Levrone is a good athlete with solid size for his position, and is a natural at the position. A little raw because of his limited reps, but UVa knows that any player they get from Good Counsel has been around a great group of coaches at that school, and that will benefit them down the road.
Andre Levrone is a balanced wide receiver, who can be both a deep threat and a player who can go across the middle as a possession receiver. The Cavaliers did a nice job upgrading the talent at that position going forward, and Levrone will figure into the rotation down the road. As a freshman, its up in the air whether he will play or not. In the past a lot of young receivers have gotten on the field under Coach London, but with a lot of depth there already, we'll see how Levrone does in camp and how it affects his playing time in 2013.
