Virginia and Vanderbilt are co-College World Series betting favorites

Hoooos betting the house on the Hoooos?

Rafael Suanes-USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Cavaliers are an odds-on favorite to win the College World Series, according to odds released by Bovada.  The Hoos were given 3/1 odds to win it all, the same odds as co-favorite Vanderbilt.

The full odds are below:

2014 NCAA College Baseball World Series - Odds to Win
Virginia                          3/1
Vanderbilt                     3/1
Texas                             4/1
Mississippi                   6/1
TCU                                 6/1
UC Irvine                        7/1
Louisville                       8/1
Texas Tech                   12/1

While Virginia may be the highest ranked team remaining in the tournament, the odds also reflect the fact that the team drew a relatively tough side of the bracket.  The #3 Hoos are one of two national seeds to advance to Omaha, along with #7 TCU, and both are in the same 4-team double elimination pod.  UVA will start their World Series run against a hot Ole Miss team, who also hosted a regional.

Still, the Hoos are the favorite to win the pool with Ole Miss, TCU, and Texas Tech, and advance to the final round.  Vanderbilt (3/1) and Texas (4/1) are the favorites to move on from the other side of the bracket.

Virginia plays at 8 PM on Sunday in Omaha, NE; that game will be broadcast on ESPN2.  We'll have plenty of coverage in the coming days to familiarize ourselves with Ole Miss and the other teams UVA could face during their CWS run.
