It was an almost flawless match by both sides. Last night, the doubles team of Dom 'the Bomb' Inglot and Treat 'Baby' Huey defeated the number seven seeded duo of Rohan Bopanna and Alsam-Ul-Haq Qureshi 6-4, 7 (7)-6 (1). Huey and Inglot had the only break point in the match, coming in the first set, and late at that.
Inglot and Huey, the 12 seed in the Open, excelled at their service game, notching ten aces to Bopanna and Qureshi's four. The second set was a little sloppier for both teams, with a combined seven unforced errors (as compared to three for the first set).
Bomb and Baby will face the winner of the match between the number one seeded Bryan brothers and the unseeded combination of Eric Butorac (USA) and Raven Klassen (RSA). The quarterfinal match will take place Tuesday.
Dom Inglot won the double's NCAA Championship for Virginia in 2009 with partner Michael Shabaz, and is considered one of the up-and-comers for the future of Great Britain tennis. He is currently the only British player still active in this year's Australian Open doubles play, while Huey is the lone player representing the Philippines.
