Today is Virginia's last chance to nab a national championship in 2014! Our boys take on the second-seeded UCLA Bruins, who have put together a whopping 11 goals in their four NCAA Tournament games so far this season. Virginia meanwhile has outscored their opponents 6-2.
That's not to say UCLA has dominated their opponents en route to this national championship game. The Bruins have only outscored their opponents 11-8, with three of their four tournament games going into overtime. UCLA defeated San Diego 2-1 (OT), California 3-2, North Carolina in PKs, and Providence 3-2 (2OT).
To get to where they are today, Virginia defeated UNC Wilmington 3-1, top-seeded Notre Dame 1-0, eighth-seeded Georgetown in PKs and UMBC 1-0.
Virginia is fourth on the all-time NCAA Tournament appearances list (36), fifth in College Cup appearances (12) and third in NCAA Championships (6). UCLA is second in tournament appearances (41), third in College Cup appearances (14) and fourth in NCAA championships (4).
