So as it turns out, there IS, in fact, ACC Tournament basketball to be played on Saturday. The last time the Hoos played in the ACC semifinals, this writer was cheering on Jerry Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace en route to a Final Four appearance, but that's neither here nor there -- we all have our dark periods.
Pitt is red hot right now, winning five of its past six, all away from home. Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna are each averaging 18.0 points per game during the ACC Tournament; Zanna had a whopping 21 rebounds yesterday against Carolina. Pitt's offense, ranked by KenPom as No. 16 in the country, could give Virginia some headache, but if the Hoos can play a tight defense and make Pitt work for each possession, Virginia should be able to outlast an already-tired Pitt team.
