Now time for a slightly different tune. No words can describe how much we here at STL hate cancer. Last year, we donated all of our ad revenue to the oncology center at UVa's Children's Hospital. The year before, we gave to Cavaliers Against Cancer. Which brings me to my next point. The Fourth Annual Cavaliers Against Cancer Charity Texas Hold'em Tournament is being held in Charlottesville at the John Paul Jones Arena on March 15th.
Over the past three years, Cavaliers Against Cancer has raised over $30,000 for ground-breaking cancer research, and they look to blow it out of the water this year, setting an ambitious goal of raising $20,000 and hosting 200 poker players. Net proceeds are donated to the Rebecca Clary Harris, M.D. Memorial Fellowship at the University of Virginia Cancer Center.
The deadline to purchase tickets is this Friday, March 7th -- that's just two days away! To purchase tickets, see a list of their sponsors & prize donors, and view complete event details visit: www.CavaliersAgainstCancer.com.
The doors open at 11:00 a.m. and start dealing cards at noon. Your ticket includes a lunch buffet, an event cup, a chance to win over $8,000 in great prizes. They've got a Beginners, Main, and High-Stakes Tournament, and tickets range from $50 to $150. The event is expected to go until about 5:00 p.m.
I know what you're thinking -- but that's the ACC Tournament and Virginia could be in the middle of DOMINATING its opponent! Fear not -- these guys know what they're doing. They will have a viewing area set-up to watch the ACC Tournament thanks to Cavalier Rentals who has donated multiple TV's, couches, and chairs for the viewing lounge. Even if you can't play, please pass this along to friends who may be interested.
