The Virginia basketball program added a late-season commitment to its 2014 recruiting class Tuesday night when Marial Shayok gave his pledge to play for the 'Hoos. Shayok, a 6'7" wing from Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy, chose the Cavaliers over Marquette. Shayok had originally signed with the Golden Eagles before their off-season coaching change. He announced his commitment to Virginia on his Twitter feed.

Shayok becomes the fourth member of Virginia's 2014 recruiting class. He's rated as a 3-star prospect by 247 Sports, Rivals, and ESPN. 247 Sports also lists Shayok as the 119th-best prospect in the nation. Shayok will add further depth to the Virginia backcourt. He'll likely contend with fellow freshman B.J. Stith and junior Evan Nolte for playing time behind presumed starter Justin Anderson.

Virginia still has one open scholarship remaining for the 2014-2015 season. The Cavaliers will host point guard prospect Devonte Graham this weekend, according to Graham's high school coach. Virginia has also shown interest in Ukraine guard Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, according to the Daily Progress.
