COMMITMENT! 2015 OL RJ Proctor

Head coach Mike London stayed hot on the recruiting trail, as UVa reeled in its seventh commitment for the class of 2015 on Friday afternoon.

In Wednesday’s Recruiting Roundup, we told you to keep a close eye on Liberty (Bealeton) offensive tackle, RJ Proctor. Proctor recently received an offer from the Cavaliers and many felt that it was only a matter of time before the 6-4, 320 pound offensive tackle climbed aboard the Wahoo Express.

Well, literally 48 hours after the Roundup was published, Proctor committed to Mike London and UVa on Friday afternoon.

The rising senior also claimed an offer from Old Dominion and was receiving interest from Virginia Tech, Duke, and NC State among others.

Though he is not as heralded as other top lineman in the Commonwealth, Proctor is extremely young for his grade, having turned 16 years old after his junior season was completed. Proctor already has the size that can’t be taught, and has a great deal of untapped potential.

The Liberty standout becomes the seventh member of the class of 2015, and the third offensive lineman to commit to the Cavaliers. Virginia secured a verbal from Pennsylvania offensive tackle, Ryan Bischoff back in April, and recently picked up a verbal commitment from Punta Gorda, Florida native, Grant Polk.

We’ve said it over and over again, but offensive line recruiting is going to be a major storyline for this recruiting cycle. Proctor’s commitment is significant in that Virginia already has secured more offensive line pledges for 2015 already than it signed all of last year.

We will have much more on Virginia's efforts in the trenches in next week's Recruiting Roundup.

Proctor comes from a terrific Liberty program that produced many college prospects, including former UVa target and current VT offensive lineman, Wyatt Teller. In 2013, Proctor helped pave the way a rugged Eagle backfield to rush for over 2,600 yards, and did it all before his 16th birthday.

The commitment could be just the beginning of another busy weekend on grounds, as London and his staff will host both a seven-on-seven tournament and a Big Man Camp tomorrow.

Will there be any more fireworks? Keep it right here at Streaking The Lawn!
