Apparently one commitment was not enough for UVa head coach Mike London.
On the heels of landing four-star defensive end Rasool Clemons, the Wahoos picked up a commitment from Patrick Henry (Ashland) OG/DT Eli Hanback just hours later.
Hanback selected Virginia over offers from Old Dominion and James Madison.
The 6-4 270 pound lineman camped at UVa back in June and made his return visit to grounds this past weekend for the annual cookout held for commits and recruits. The Patrick Henry standout enjoyed his day in Charlottesville once again, only this time, he left with an offer. Hanback, who grew up a Cavalier fan wasted little time pulling the trigger, committing to London and Virginia soon after.
Hanback plays on the interior line on both sides of the ball, and wherever he gets slotted, it will be a position of need for the Wahoos. Virginia has three offensive line commits on board already, but two of them are tackles. Hanback would add some nice depth at the guard position, which is pretty thin on the roster right now.
On the other side, defensive tackle is always a crucial position to have many options. The Cavaliers have some talent on the interior line already on the roster, but there is not a lot of depth, and nearly half of them will be gone by the time Hanback is eligible (assuming he redshirts). UVa already has a solid DT on board, in James Trucilla, and Hanback would be a nice addition to the defensive line.
