It's been a little while since we've introduced some new writers to the mix here, but we couldn't be more excited to welcome the newest member to this team, Danny Neckel! Many of you will already recognize him from Twitter, @DNeckel19, for his little blue and orange charts:
In the past two #ACC seasons, #UVa leads the league in wins by 10 or more points with 21, 6 more than #Duke. pic.twitter.com/4lBcu9jpMU

#UVa Men's Tennis is off to its slowest start since '06 at 9-3, which shows how dominant the program has been. pic.twitter.com/Vx0P2FPDVx

Danny's a 2006 graduate of the University who considers his all-time favorite UVA sports moment to be watching UVA Men's Lacrosse beating Maryland for the national title in Baltimore when he was right next to the UVA band. Coming in second is a tie between UVA Basketball's wins over Syracuse and Duke last year.
His favorite spot to grab a bite in Charlottesville? Well that goes to Bodo's. Michael's Bistro and, inexplicably, Qdoba, are close behind. (Is Danny aware that Qdoba is a chain restaurant found basically everywhere?)
I made Danny choose between:
- (A) A national championship in either football or a basketball
- (B) One year of national championships in all four of men's lacrosse, men's soccer, baseball and women's tennis, or
- (C) Three years of consecutive titles in one of men's lacrosse, men's soccer, baseball, or women's tennis
He tried to pull a fast one on me, picking option (D), all of the above, but when forced to pick just one, he went with (A), citing that lacrosse, soccer, and tennis have already found recent success (albeit women's tennis was an individual title), while a football or basketball title would be big for Virginia's reputation.
In Danny's own words: "I love using excel and dealing with stats. I taught myself how to use excel in order to do fantasy football rankings in middle school."
Also, his favorite video game is Assassin's Creed.
So there you have it! Give Danny a warm welcome, read his post from yesterday, and be on the lookout for some great numbers-driven posts coming up.
