Virginia women's basketball to start ACC Tournament run

Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

The 9th-seeded Virginia women's basketball team will play its first ACC Tournament game against #8 Miami today at 2 PM.  The Cavaliers, who stand at 17-12 and 7-9 in ACC play, are peaking at the right time; the team almost upset the #15 Tar Heels on the road last week, then pulled off a big win at JPJ against #8 Louisville.

UVA likely needs to win the ACC Championship to qualify for the NCAA Tournament; however, a win over the Hurricanes would set up a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Notre Dame, which could be enough for at-large consideration - here's the current NCAA Bracketology from ESPN.
