Commitment! Virginia football scores tight end Andrew Trainer

Mike London picked up where Tony Bennett left off as Virginia football nabbed the university's second major sports commitment in under 24 hours

Virginia's 2016 football recruiting class landed its eighth commitment Friday morning as three star tight end Andrew Trainer from Alexandria's St. Stephens & St. Agnes School committed to the Hoos.  UVa was the first major program to offer Trainer back in 2014 and he chose the Virginia over numerous offers from other major programs including Illinois, NC State, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest.

Trainer has great pass catching ability as well as the size to serve as an effective blocker in the Cavaliers' run oriented attack.  Listed at 6'7" and 240 pounds Trainer already looks the part of a Division I tight end and should be in a position to compete for playing time as soon as he steps on Grounds.  With senior Rob Burns graduating after the upcoming season, Trainer will join an underclassman heavy position group featuring current redshirt freshman Evan Butts, converted quarterback Brendan Marshall, and incoming 2015 recruit Richard Burney.

Trainer is Virginia football's first commitment in May and the sixth offensive commitment in the class overall.  Check out the highlights below for a glimpse of Trainer's exploits on the field:
